Car Accidents in Florida
Florida roads see a high number of vehicle accidents each year. The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles reports that more than 400,000 crashes occur annually across the state. Many of these collisions result in serious injuries, requiring hospitalization and long-term medical care.
Some of the most common causes of car accidents in Florida include:
- Distracted Driving – Texting, eating, or using in-car entertainment systems can take a driver’s attention away from the road, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Speeding – Exceeding the speed limit reduces reaction time, making it more difficult to avoid hazards and increasing the severity of accidents.
- Failure to Yield – Many crashes happen when drivers fail to yield at intersections or while merging onto roadways. This can lead to T-bone collisions and other dangerous impacts.
- Weather Conditions – Rain and fog can make roads slick and reduce visibility, leading to an increase in accidents during severe weather.
