Car Accidents in Florida
Florida experiences a high number of vehicle crashes every year, with over 390,000 accidents reported statewide in recent years. More than half of these collisions result in injuries, affecting drivers, passengers, and pedestrians alike. Heavy traffic, driver negligence, and unpredictable weather conditions contribute to the high accident rate.
Understanding common causes of accidents can help drivers stay alert and reduce risks. Some frequent causes include:
- Distracted Driving – Activities like texting, adjusting navigation, or eating while driving take attention away from the road and increase crash risks.
- Speeding – Driving above the posted limit reduces reaction time, making it harder to avoid sudden obstacles or other vehicles.
- Impaired Driving – Alcohol and drugs severely impair judgment, coordination, and reaction time, making accidents more likely.
- Drowsy Driving – Fatigue can be just as dangerous as intoxication, leading to slower reflexes and impaired decision-making.
- Poor Weather Conditions – Rain, fog, and wet roads make driving more hazardous, often leading to skidding or loss of control.
