Car Accidents in Florida
Florida experiences a high number of motor vehicle collisions each year, many of which result in severe injuries. Data from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles shows that over 390,000 crashes occur annually in the state, resulting in more than 250,000 injuries. Many of these incidents take place at busy intersections, where the likelihood of side-impact crashes is significantly increased.
Understanding the risks of car accidents can help drivers take precautions to stay safe. Some of the most common injuries resulting from crashes include:
- Whiplash – A sudden back-and-forth motion of the neck, often seen in rear-end collisions, can cause lasting pain and stiffness.
- Broken Bones – The force of an impact can lead to fractures, especially in the arms, legs, and ribs.
- Head Injuries – Concussions and traumatic brain injuries can occur from the force of a crash, leading to cognitive and physical impairments.
- Back and Spinal Cord Injuries – Damage to the spine can result in chronic pain, limited mobility, or even paralysis in severe cases.
- Internal Injuries – Blunt-force trauma can cause damage to internal organs, sometimes requiring emergency surgery.
