Jeep Sullivan’s Wounded Warrior Outdoor Adventures is a local organization in Bay County that gives veterans the opportunity to bond with each other through various outdoor activities, free of charge. The latest was a deep-sea fishing trip, where six veterans came together and enjoyed bonding time they said they don’t often experience. According to the participating veterans, spending time with those who fought alongside them is what they’ve missed most since retiring.
On the fishing trip, the wounded warriors shared stories and discussed mutual experiences while catching red snapper. Some are medically retired because the military deemed their injuries too severe to continue serving.
Our very own Clayton Syfrett has spent six years helping Jeep Sullivan provide veterans with these free fishing trips. While Syfrett has never been in the military, he has “a lot of respect for the people that dedicate their lives and spend time from their families that serve in the military.” This, he says, is his way of helping as best he can.
